Tying Mo's club whiff record, Betances feeling 'thankful'

PETERSBURG -- On the night that Charlie Hayes settled underneath that foul popup at the old Yankee Stadium, Dellin Betances had already decided that he would be a Yankees fan; at least when he wasn't handling his second grade classwork from P.S. 48 in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan. Not only is the shortstop down to 14 games remaining in the regular season - and perhaps his career - he's also mired in an 0-for-24 slump after going hitless in four at-bats in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Orioles. "The only result I'm concerned with is us trying to win," Jeter said before playing his final game at Camden Yards, barring a remarkable Yankees turnaround.
