Mets third baseman David Wright will sit out the rest of the season because of a nagging injury to his left shoulder. Wright was examined Tuesday by doctors at the Hospital for Special Surgery, where he had an MRI that showed persistent inflammation in his rotator cuff.
The Mets aren't making a playoff push, and they're not getting too many chances to play spoiler, especially this week against the Rockies. But these late-season games for out-of-contention teams still have meaning for individual players, especially young ones.

According to Collins, the Mets will evaluate Murphy again before Tuesday's game, at which time they will determine whether or not to active him from the disabled list.
