Tom Brookens is headed back to the major leagues. Former Oneonta Tigers manager Brookens, who spent the past two seasons managing Double-A Erie, was named Detroit's first base, outfield and baserunning coach Monday.

Former Dolphin standout and now Detroit Tiger right fielder Clete Thomas was honored today with a plaque and the retiring of his old jersey #3. Clete played four years at Mosley before going to Auburn to play college ball and then was drafted by the Minnesota Twins before getting traded to Detroit.

The 2005 draft is another that may turn out to be more famous for who it allowed the Tigers to get rather than who it eventually netted the Detroiters.

It's possible that someone at Mosley one day will match what Clete Thomas accomplished.
