I was one of the few to play with and against Mitch in high school, great coach and mentor. This does feel a little like Brett Favre though...... If it is truly his last season, Soquel High needs to re-name that field and SCCAL should have some sort of a ceremony in his honor for his contributions to the community and the game of baseball.

As a former high school and college baseball player and a big fan of high school ball. This is a sad day for the sport and a great day for Mitch. He is one of the best coaches. I have watched thousands of high school ball games and Mitch's teams were always there to play. You can watch a team take infield warm up and tell how prepared they are. Mitch's young men always played the game the way it was supposed to be played. The best to Mitch and his family.

I hated PE in highschool but Mr. Meyer was a really cool dude. He pushed me even though I was bad at sports.
HAve a great retirement dude!

Wow, sorry to hear coach is stepping down, but if there is anyone in the history of Santa Cruz baseball who deserves it, it is Mitch. Fantastic man, fantastic coach and someone who will be sorely missed at Soquel.

All the best to you in your "retirement" coach!

a good coach overall. Hope his assistant coach doesn't take his place though. Need to name a totally new coaching staff.

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Cancer

Be careful today Cancer, because your emotions could cloud certain issues as they often to and leave you feeling confused. You should be especially wary of believing what you want to believe, rather than believing the evidence in front of your eyes. It's easy to kid yourself now about someone's motives or reliability, even if deep down you know that you're telling yourself a load of old twaddle.
