I was sitting in a Costco here Wednesday night, waiting to have four new tires put on my 2001 Subaru Outback--after literally having just spent $900 on a tune-up and several other items.

Cons: Disappointing fuel economy, outdated four-speed automatic transmission, as-tested price, now handles like a real SUV.
