"if you use your car's air conditioner, make sure you recycle the air so your engine doesn't have to work so hard to cool outside air."

Why wouldn't you recycle the cool air? Is the other setting for high humidity environments? Always wondered about that....

This crap is retarded instead of fixing the actual problem they want us "common folk" to carpool, turn off our heat and air, ride in our car backwards with our windows down, drive with one shoe etc...all crap these reporters, politicians don't even do themselves. All these stupid little quick fixes will save you what 2 cents a gallon if you do all of them. Give me a break. You pump 20 gallons save 40 cents who gives a crap. Gas is high cause of demand. We all keep buying so why should they drop the price. This is the capatalism you all love so much.

What a bunch of hooye.

Under inflated tires do not increase drag. They do increase rolling resistance, but they do NOT produce drag. Adding a luggage rack adds drag. This chap is an imbecile!!!

Obiviously this moron is a journalist, NOT an engineer. Probably can't even spell engineer.

I'm still stuck on the $68.96! Why couldn't you add 4 cents to make it an even number? I can't get past the first part of the story. LOL... I know... I have issues..

You would not have internet access without capitalism. You would be standing in line for food right now (assuming you survived birth) if you were in a communist country. Come to think of it...why not move to Cuba? Or I hear Burma is nice this time of year.

Why doesn't the media rally for a gas strike instead of telling us to check our oil and tires. If everyone didn't put gas for 2 whole days, it would hurt the oil companies. So what does everyone say.... sound like a good idea. Maybe the news can help get word around.

Not this idea again. It won't work. It's been tried many times before. Oil companies do not look at they're daily profits. Besides, if you didn't buy gas for 2 days, that just means your going to buy it the day before or the day after. Unless you change your demand, it does nothing. When the oil company gets their profits at the end of the month, they still made the same because we the consumers still used the same amount. It doesn't matter one bit which day you decided to buy your gas on. Even if people actually protested, and not only didn't buy gas but found alternative means of transportation for a week or two, then just maybe, big oil would see an impact in their profits. However, China along with the rest of the oil consuming world would still be purchasing away, so in reality, there is nothing we can do to send a message to big oil unless you can collectively get the entire world to reduce their consumption. It will never, ever happen.

holy cow...gas strikes, taking weight out of your trunk...

if we think these are the problems/solutions then we are in real trouble.

the market is being manipulated. all markets are now susceptible to it. housing, food, etc.

buy something low. keep buying until the price goes up (force the price up). get people to believe there is a shortage and start buying thus forcing price up. at a high, sell. take profit. leave late comers holding the bag.

for example "house prices will never go down. they're not making any more land". that one works. also try "china is taking all the oil".

very simple really.

There isn't much we can really do about gas prices. Us little people have little control over that. What we can do is make sure that our vehicles are using as little fuel as possible.
