Chrysler unveils more aggressive incentives:

I know quite a few retirees who will never buy another Chrysler recall. Honda, Toyota set in their driveways and Chryskler sets on jack stands with leaking transmissions laying on the ground.

You see, not even a cradle to grave warranty will change most folks mind because modern Chryskler vehicles come with huge downtime due to built-in defects. Literally the customer has to develop the car and replace cheap components with better replacements.

In the case of a lifetime warranty if this load is shifted to the dealer the customer still has the burden of paying inflated fluid and filter changes and fuel costs and lost time to go back and forth.

Whoops, I forgot ear plugs to filter out the lies of why your car broke (again).

Buy Honda or Toyota so you can use a vehicle as intented instead of hanging out (to dry) at the dealer every day.

Hmmm, I have only ever owned dodges and chryslers and I dont see them in the driveway on jack stans, nor have they ever needed any work. And my dealer gives me lifetime free oil changes, so, yeah, your opinion is pretty useless.

No matter what brand you choose....when you walk into that showroom..look at the window sticker..it says where the final assembly point is....INSIST that it is assembled in the USA..Keep Americans working !! We are losing jobs overseas.....across the border (NORTH and SOUTH)...Thats right even Canada is taking American jobs !! Its time for Amercians to INSIST on what they are buying is made in the USA....before all our jobs are lost .

It's not just final assembly. It's total domestic content. Materials, parts, sub assemblies all leading up to final assembly should be considered too.

The question really is what has the UAW done for you lately?

Allowed several dozen plants to close across the US with Ford, GM and Chrysler.

Allowed Tier II pay structure.

Allowed reduction of benefits.

Allowed those that took the early out to go months on end without their severance packages.

The UAW of the days of yore are over, I believe this to be a fact. It will be interesting to see if the UAW has what it takes to redefine itself - or simply die on the vine.

Do I think these individuals should get paid as much, if not more, than Nurses, Teachers, Law Enforcement, Skilled Trades (non-UAW), etc? Hell no. However, they should be paid better than minimum wage, as you state.

The way I understand it, the liability for the medical plan has been or will be offloaded from the company's books and the administration and management decisions made by the union itself.

Which is probably why the UAW is so excited about plant closings and members getting kicked to the curb. That's just that much more of the VEBA cake they can keep for themselves.
