This same author, Mark Phelan of the Detroit Free Press, has always lauded GM vehicles....even the ones that were obvious failures.

He writes stories that Detroit residents want to read, but he is laughing stock for other automotive journalists due to his biased hometown views.

He is not respected. Again, he is biased and based out of Detroit. He is passionate about Detroit automobiles, but doesn't critique vehicles with a business model in mind. For that reason he is a failure outside of Detroit.

I read over the article and it is approved. Overall it’s a good informative positive article, regardless of the Man’s preferences. If we went by that type of prerequisite, we wouldn’t have news for anyone.

Seriously, this guy is definitely NOT respected in the media or anywhere else. A good many Free Press readers, plus print media people have expressed that---repeatedly.
Where do you get the bizarre idea that he's something special?
Or are you just up to your usual "playstation propaganda" again?

I'm glad to see that GM and Ford beat out Camry and Accord on dependability.

At risk of being accused of duplication an earler post by yours truly...
For the record....and to put all GM pundit "chest beating" aside, here are the key points (direct quotes) from CR's latest reliability study as reported by Canwest Global News Service.

Toyota and Honda remain tops overall.

Ford is the only domestic automaker building vehicles with world class reliability.

Ford still builds the best family sedans.

Chrysler's two minivans are rated as the least reliable in their segment.

Toyota and Honda dominate the list of most reliable vehicles, taking 5 of the top 7 spots.

Ford's Mexican built sedans, Fusion, Milan, and Lincoln MKZ, are slightly ahead of Toyotas and Hondas in their segments...with exception of Toyota Prius Hybrid which is tops in its segment.

Thirty six of the forty eight most reliable vehicles in the world are Asian Nameplates...European built vehicles are now neck and neck with North American vehicles.

Chrysler's Jeep,Chrysler and Dodge brands, along with Cadillac, were rated as the worst in the world.

Owners continue to rate GM vehicles as inconsistent, with exception of the Chevy Malibu which was rated as above average.

Twenty other GM products were rated average, and twenty seven rated below average, however several new GM releases look promising.

The Honda Insight is rated as the most reliable vehicle on the market today.

Hyundai and Kia vehicles were standouts.

S0...the news isn't a rosy for GM just yet, in spite of what some would have us believe,
whatever

True. GM isn't out of the woods yet. And Chrysler, I think they tripped somewhere in the woods, broke their leg and now can't get up.

Keep in mind the millions of Toyota recalls within the last couple of months were not factored into the study. If they were, I believe you would have seen many more import vehicles fall from the pedestal especially Toyota.

Can't speak to the authors prejudice toward Detroit. But, I'm not buying a GM or a Chrysler until the government no longer owns them. And yea, I own one of each.

Oh, buy the way, GM, after adding a second shift at the Lordstown plant in Youngstown, OH to make more Cobolts just last month so Obama could fly in and do a photo shoot announced to the workers yesterday the entire plant is to be shut down November 9th. Both shifts. To make the photo shoot happen, declairing how good GM is doing he cost GM millions of dollars to start the second shift. To boot, the costs for unemployment will be high. The second shift never should of been brought back. It put both shifts out of work. There is a 50 day supply of Cobalts and theire not selling. The Cruiz will be built at the same plant, but they can't get production started until April 2010.

I tried explaining this to “the authority”(aka truckin) about the cobalt issue but he wasn’t hearing it.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Leo

The atmosphere is highly combustible today, with people getting in a stew over the smallest little thing. You will also have a tendency to get hot under the collar, especially if someone isn't doing things as quickly as you'd like. Try to stop yourself getting in a rage because once that happens it will be difficult to cool down again. Maybe you need some fresh air?
