Electric vehicles light up Paris Motor Show

Either Renault Executive Vice Chairman Patrick Pelata had too much champagne, or he knows something we don't. At the Paris Motor Show on Thursday, Pelata announced that the French carmaker would build a pure ...

Maybe the auto manufacturers have picked up on the peoples disgust with making enemy nations wealthy by buying their oil. Add to that, sending troops overseas to impose stability in the oil regions to assure the flow of oil. I'm disgusted and want of f of the gasoline merry-go-round.

The rallying cry should be "No plug, no deal!" I'm not going to buy a new car until it can be plugged in and use energy from the grid, preferably all electric. Not just 8 miles electric only Toyota. For the people that cry.. you going to burn coal to produce the electricity, all I can say is think about thin-film solar arrays (photovoltaics) on your root, grid connected.

I've advocated for GM to mass-produce electric vehicles ever since I drove the GM EV1 nine years ago; it was fast, nimble and well-equipped. The EV1, the 'most efficient production model in automotive history'(GM's words) was not available for purchase (or even closed-end leasing, outside the Southwest.)

The Volt is slower, far shorter-ranged (electric-only) and less-efficient than the EV1.
Battery electric vehicles, to be available within two years, can reduce US air pollution by 40%, free us from dictators' oil and let us drive trouble-free for a nickel per mile. See EVWorld.com for info.
