I have that particular engine and I honestly don't know what you're ranting about. This thing sips oil compared to other VW/Audi engines I've owned.

I'm not ' ranting ' about anything, just !

Read the blogs if you care, this is my second 2.0 and the first did not burn oil this one does and I am not alone with the problem. I have had; BMW, Volvo, Honda and VW diesels and a 1.8 T, all new and none burned any oil either...

You are like most people, never had one, never heard, your in shock but you wouldn't be if you'd got stuck with one...

Some burn 3 or more quarts in 1500 miles ! Mine only like 2 1/2 - 3 quarts in 6000 miles, only synthetic at that too.

Uh, I have had a Jetta, two Passats, two Audi A4s. That would be one 2.0, one 1.8T, one 2.8, another 1.8T and now a 2.0 TFSI. These engines have been rock solid. I think MY experience has been quite different from yours. You are an angry person.

Wow, my wife and I have VW's and Audis on short-term leases, since 06 together we have had 7 different 2.0T equipped vehicles (GTI's, GLI, Eos and A3's). I have never had an engine burn oil at anything other than a normal rate. The burn rate you present suggest a serious problem (more likely a leak) and should absolutely be covered under warranty.

My new A3 has the TFSI 2.0 litre and so far also shows normal behavior.

Its not a ' leak '

Its a burn, it did have a leak too, probably from the same problem, excess pressure that was enough to actually blow out the drain plug gasket, so you see its a problem and the breather valve was replaced.

I have had allot more new cars then you have and different makes, so my experience is greater than yours too, I can assure you. In almost 50 years !

You apparently think all of us here on my other blog are making all this up, when we have given you the facts.

Why you come on here and be critical of my facts as I present then I don't know why, but you should bud out, if,,,, you not aware of the problem or are in denial.

I told have have had; a 1.8 T, and this is my second 2.0, Volvo, BMW, Honda, VW diesels 5 and 4 gas, all new and Toyota AND American makes, in the past.

Sorry people, to get Neanderthal with this person but some people deserve it, I may be a little pissed at the car, but your an idiot to come on here and talk to me that way...

None of these cars burned oil, even with standard motor oils of the past that is !

Check the blogs or get lost please !

Calm down Peter! I'll be 54 in November and one thing I've learned over the years is that each make of car has a different "personality" and react differently with different drivers. Could be the car doesn't like cold weather. I've had other cars as well. Camry's eat tires and brakes. I don't blame you for being upset but I just don't feel like I was a sucker for buying my Audi.

Griff sorry,
I misunderstood you...
I said I would NEVER again,( I guess you show a hungry dog a steak and...) but I just bought a base Jetta 2.5 S, graphite blue with a stick and added the sunroof, they run on reg gas. PZEV too... I don't think, I hope, that will burn oil !
I have to keep the Audi till Nov. I shopped for a Civic Ex but they're all sold out of what exactly you want on 08's by now...
The thing is I can afford a better car, but getting a new car lease is a hassle every 2 or so years, its fun when your 28. I'm going to keep this one till warranty's up since its a 0 % thing. I'm not in a spending mood because the automotive industry in the country can't decide we need cars like the EU has, so.........:

Peter,

You mention that you have to keep your Audi till November. Does this mean that your case was unsuccessful?

No not at all,

The lease is up then and I am sure my Attorney does not want to dump the car in the middle of a case...

The thing has just been filed as a letter told me the other day.

I will keep you all posted.
