I have a 2007 Honda Odyssey touring edition and in one year the tires were bald. Today 8/2/09 two of them are showing the steel tread... NOW how do I get them to replace them.. I only have 28,000 miles on them. I can't afford the cost of 4 new tires... THIS STINKS.. and who gets the money from this settlement that I evidently can't be a part of????

Has anyone successfully gotten Michelin (or your Honda dealership) to truly replace a tire damaged by road hazard for "free"?
I've had two road hazard punctures, and each time I'm told that gel packs aren't included in the limited warranty. I've had to have multiple tires replaced, so this time I didn't take the Michelin customer service reps word for it---I went back and looked at the warranty and FAQ on MIchelin's PAX website. The warranty says (quote): "If a Michelin PAX system tire becomes unserviceable due to...a road hazard injury during the first 24 months of service or before 50% of the tread is worn, whichever occurs first, Michelin will furnish a comparable replacement tire at NO CHARGE. No charge will be made for demounting, mounting and balancing, but the consumer will be responsible for paying any other service charges and applicable taxes". The emphasis on NO CHARGE is not mine--it's in the warranty. My issue is that Michelin claims the gel pack is not covered under the warranty, despite the fact that it's required in order to replace a tire. I guess they consider it a "service" to make the tire roadworthy?? What really ticks me off though is that the MIchelin customer service agents insisted that the warranty and website both explicitly state that gel packs are not included in the warranty coverage despite the fact that I was holding a copy of the warranty in my hands, and it makes absolutely no mention of gel packs anywhere. Apparently Michelin changed the wording in the limited warranty last fall to specifically exclude gel packs, and it is being applied retroactively to all owners of PAX tires.(By the way, I just checked. The warranty currently on the MIchelin PAX website doesn't mention ANYTHING about gel packs.) If you've had your tires serviced under the PAX roadside hazard warranty, have you been subjected to this same junk fee? Will |

I purchased a used Touring Odyssey last Dec. The dealer put 2 new PAX tires on the rear. I was told nothing about the PAX system at all...only that the tires were expensive. I wanted to replace the front tires also, at my expense and was told they didn't need replacement. I did not have any opportunity to discuss a warranty.
Throughout the winter, I was totally disappointed with the car's performance in the snow and on slick roads. Maybe because the front tires really did need replacement. This summer, I had a puncture in one of the new rear tires. The minute my dashboard indicator told me there was a problem, I ceased driving and called the tire dealer to arrange a fix. He told me it was OK to drive to their establishment (25 miles away)if I just didn't go over 50mph. I brought the car in and got a ride to work. The initial cost to repair the tire was quoted at $63.48. While at work I got a call to tell me the nail which caused the puncture, also destroyed the integrity of the "inner ring", and replacement of that would be an additional $100. A week later, the indicator again said to check my tire pressure. The repaired tire was flat! This time I had it towed to the tire dealer. They replaced the stem at no charge to me. A week later the tire was again flat. I re-inflated it and drove the 25 miles to drop it off. I got a ride home. The next day they stated the tire pressure was fine, and they found no leaks. I got a ride, and drove home. A week later the tire was flat. I re-inflated and drove there. The manager told me that because of the Gel inside, most times the patch does not adhere, and leaks air.( Why couldn't they plug the tire instead of pasting a pastch to the inside?) He said the only way to really fix the problem was to buy a new tire. So I did..at an additional cost of $253. I have the forms to fill out regarding the class action suit against Michelin and Honda, but they are difficult for me to understand. Has anyone actually had any luck with this? judy |

THIS IS UNHEARD OF, AND NO MATTER WHO OR WHERE I CALL I GET THE SAME STORY. SORRY BUT IT IS WHAT IT IS. NEEDLESS TO SAY I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER HONDA OR MICHELIN TIRE AGAIN

Pulling a mountain pass we came across many rocks on the raod chich came off the side of the mountain, I manuverd to miss the large rocks and ran over a few smaller than hand size rocks and the right rear tire poped from the rock puncture and went flat. The PAX system tire indicator came on and indicated the right rear tire was flat and the runfat system is ok to run up 125 miles at less then 50 MPH. Long story short, could not find a spare in the vehicle, so ran on the tire 16 miles home in a blizzard for the night, called next day on a Saturday to find clossest place to fix or replace, had to drive 2 hours with tire removed and in trunk of brothers car to get fixed, at the Honda dealer could not fix so they replaced the tire, said under warranty sent me home, at ZERO cost. Thanks Honda, great tire in an emergance as it got the Women and Kids & me home, super no mess flat, most people dont know how to change a flat now adays anyway, and with a handycap child modified Honda Odyssey van, time and safety of changing a flat, its nice to know they will still make it home after a flat. Great Job Mitchelin/Honda
