The styling is getting better, no more huge gaps between the fender and wheel.

I look forward to the cruze. I am hoping GM comes out with a TRUE hybrid version. It would beat the prius! I'd love to see that! And maybe it will force toyota to drop that nasty 4 speed auto in the corolla and update it to a 6 speed!

The chevrolet cruze is scheduled to debut in 2010. Report are it will get 45 mpg.

45mpg is a wet dream at this point. Unless the car were to weight under 2000lbs (which it won't) then this thing will get high 30's which is good for our over-regulated cars.

You might be right. The articles prior to the jetta tdi coming out stated 55mpg and it ended up with 41. If its high 30's, thats not gonna cut it. Toyota will have a lot of hybrids out by that time and will eat GM alive.

I know the technology, but the over-regulation has killed us. Saturn SL1's back in the 1990's were EPA rated at 42mpg highway with a largish 1.9L engine. Put a 1.4L turbo engine in that same car and it would get 45mpg. But the government has loaded our vehicles with content and weight, and our obese country demands all sorts of standard options.
