Artist Banks Violette does not roll out a polite welcome mat in the three galleries he has infiltrated at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.
The middle room, the one that can be seen from across the ground floor of the museum, is covered floor-to-ceiling with a duct-tape replica of a Confederate flag. There is no title, no written clue to the artist's intent. Unless you already know that Violette's work melds the cultures of heavy-metal music and minimalist sculpture, you can't begin to add up the elements to form a whole. Read more
