Emergency services were called to the Stopgate junction, which leads to Porthleven, just before 7.20pm to what witnesses have described as an "almost head on" collision between two vehicles. A paramedic in a response ambulance car was among the first on the scene, closely followed by police and ambulance personnel.
The trial was launched last November to 46,000 homes across Cornwall. As plastic pots, tubs and trays make up a large amount of household rubbish the trial aims to see how much of these can be recycled, and to better understand the environmental benefit and costs of collecting these extra plastics.
This has been the discussion by town councillors, who have been looking into ideas to bring more trade to the town, including adding extra parking to Coinagehall Street - or even banning cars all together. It stems from a plea by mayor Gillian Geer to "use your imagination" and find a way to change how people view Helston.
