A man and woman have been arrested after officers discovered a cannabis factory and significant amounts of what is believed to be MDMA and crystal meth. A private care company is asking residents for their views on plans to build a residential care home and a brain injury unit. Carebase is proposing to build a 70-bed residential care home and a 32-bed brain injury unit on the land in St Mary's Lane, adjacent to the Eaton Road and Coopers' Company and Coborn School playing fields.
Plans to merge Redbridge Police with neighbouring boroughs, drug busts and the performance of the council's enforcement team were all discussed at a meeting of the Safer Neighbourhood Board last night. Speaking at the meeting at Forest House, Clements Road, Ilford, Redbridge's top police officer, Ch Supt Mandy Beacher, revealed that provisional plans to combine Redbridge borough with Havering and Barking and Dagenham had been drawn up, but that no final decisions had been made.
Commuters will soon benefit from new trains and direct access to central London and Heathrow airport after improvement works begun at Romford Station on Monday. Improvements will include an upgraded facade, a better ticket hall with revised entrances, new lifts and platform extensions to accommodate the new 200 metre long Crossrail trains.
