The delegation led by the head of the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China , Song Tao made this remark when they met with President Maithripala Sirisena at the President's official residence, today .
Feb 23, Colombo: A high ranking official of the Communist Party of China today pledged China's full support to Sri Lanka's efforts to make the island nation a hub of the Indian Ocean. The head of the International Liaison Department of the Communist Party of China Song Tao, who is leading a delegation to the country, gave this assurance when the delegation met with the Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at Temple Trees today.
Feb 23, Colombo: Mo' Mojo, an American zydeco band, concluded its five-day tour of Sri Lanka on February 16 with a high-energy, free, public concert for an appreciative crowd in Colombo. The U.S. Embassy-sponsored visit included public performances in Jaffna and Colombo; workshops for music students; and master classes for Sri Lankan musicians.
Feb 20, Colombo: Forty seven Sri Lankan companies, Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and Sri Lankan Airlines participated at the South Asia Travel & Tourism Exchange 2017 which is one of the largest travel and tourism exhibitions held in India. Galadari Hotel, Hilton Hotel, Kingsbury Hotel, Jet Wing Travels Ltd., Aitken Spence Travels, Walkers Tours Ltd. and B.O.C Travels were also among the participants at this key event, held in New Delhi from 15th to 17th of February 2017.
Feb 20, Colombo: A ministerial delegation comprising Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Mahinda Amaraweera, Minister of Agriculture Duminda Dissanayake and Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade Malik Samarawickrama are currently visiting Thailand for bilateral discussions on developing Sri Lanka's fishery industry. The ministerial delegation, visiting Thailand on an invitation extended by the Thailand Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak, have participated in bilateral talks with regard to fisheries, trade, industry, tourism and agriculture and entered in to several bilateral agreements.
Feb 17, Colombo: Sri Lanka's President Maithripala Sirisena has instructed the relevant officials to take necessary measures to provide an allowance of Rs.10,000 per month each for all the drought-affected farming families in the island. The President further instructed to appoint a Committee comprising District Secretaries, Grama Niladharis and Samurdhi Officials to collect comprehensive information on affected families.
Feb 17, Colombo: The United States Embassy Public Affairs Section in Sri Lanka has announced that funding is available through the Embassy's Public Diplomacy grants program for Sri Lanka. Grants up to US$ 5,000 are intended for local representatives of civil society including non-governmental organizations, cultural institutions, universities, schools, and individuals.
Feb 16, Colombo: Sri Lanka's National Carrier, SriLankan Airlines added yet another accolade when China's Top Travel magazine named it the Best Airline in South Asia at the 10th Annual Top Travel Awards, recognizing the airline's continuous efforts at expanding travel between China and Sri Lanka. This is the latest in a string of awards for Sri Lanka's National Carrier.
Feb 15, Colombo: The Commander of Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne attended the closing ceremony of the Multinational Naval Exercise AMAN-17 in Karachi, Pakistan yesterday . The AMAN exercise which is held every alternate year, conducted for the successful fifth time this year.
