The total number of international tourist arrivals to Brunei through the Brunei International Airport reached 218,809 in 2016, up 0.3 percent year-on-year. The increase can be attributed to the high travel demand from the East Asia market, visa facilitation for China and chartered flights from China and South Korea , a local daily reported on Saturday.
The Philippine and Indonesian governments will launch next month a roll-on, roll-off shipping service that will link Davao and General Santos cities to Bitung City in Indonesia, an official of the Mindanao Development Authority said. Presidents Rodrigo Duterte of the Philippines and Joko Widodo of Indonesia have been invited to grace the launch in Davao City after the 30th ASEAN Summit in Manila, MinDA Assistant Secretary Romeo Montenegro said.
In a joint statement released upon the completion of the state visit by Saudi king Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to Malaysia, the two sides have agreed to strengthen the bilateral military cooperation by developing areas of joint training and exercise, and exchange of military experience. The two countries also agreed, among others, on the need to intensify and concert joint efforts to confront extremism and reject sectarianism.
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, March 7 -- Brunei will build a free trade zone to facilitate open trade and attract more foreign direct investment, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah said in a speech delivered at the opening of the 13th Legislative Council session, China's Xinhua news agency reported. The Sultan said that developing Brunei into an attractive destination for trade and investment is a prime priority for the government, according to a local media report on Tuesday.
