I have no sympathy for the dealers having to sell their now unpopular trucks at a purported loss. They've been making a pile of money off them for years, and couldn't see the stuff about to hit the fan with the rapid rise in gas prices. The dealers have had at least a year to bring in more fuel efficient cars and small trucks on their lots, but they didn't. And I say "purported loss" because a quick check at edmunds.com and other such sites will quickly show how much profit margin the dealers have been making on big trucks. The trucks aren't selling for a loss, just for less profit.

And I have no sympathy, too, for the many big truck buying consumers who are now discovering that they have overbought their lifestyle.

I consider my self a bit lucky. I had a 92 4x4 ford that i bought new and the rising cost of gas plus the endless nickel/dime repairs mad up my mind to trade it in.it was a tough decision as i really had a lot in that thing.

Thing is i traded it for an HHR in February which was before the gas panick really set in and got a good trade in on the truck. If it were now,Iprobably would have received nearly nothing for it
