Rogersville, TN - Samsung hard drive, shot 3 times @ 25 yards with .38 auto. Ricocheted off drive's casing. I'm thinking I might start carrying a hard drive in my vest or overall's bib pocket.

Nice grouping for 25 yards. I would use a bigger gun or full metal jacket.

Yep, nice grouping on my old hard drive.
If only it was as tough INSIDE as outside lol.

38? Even Dirty Harry said 38s bounce off windshields. Wanna borrow my Magnum?

Thanks for posting the pic, just as you promised. Apparently it has proven to be a challenge.=-)

I usually have frag shell in the .38 When you are close to your target, they make a very large hole. With a slug, a .38 lacks the punch you really want in a crunch though.
Next step is either the .30-06 or one of the shotguns. The .30 -.06 would make a very nice hole, but there is no challenge with anything closer than 100 yards. The shotgun is definitely not a challenge, but it makes for a lot of fun to check the spread pattern of different loads.

I'm thinking there's a MythBuster's episode somewhere in this :) And we could always do a comparison between Seagate, Western Digital, Maxtor and the old Quantum Fireball. Surely the most satisfying target would be the IBM 75 GB hard drive which prematurely failed by the hundreds of thousands. Those rate a MythBuster's C-4 explosion sequence. I really hated seeing those IBM 75s when I opened up a case. Ya' just knew thats where the garbage disposal grinding sound was coming from.

....and yes, if only hard drives were as tough inside as they are outside.

Mopar, the photo doesn't exactly show what is pictured.

Stop by one day and look at the hard drive itself.

And yeah....why ain't the inside as tough? lol
