Agreed! Both have expanded the national debt to astronomical proportions, while trying to follow a European style of government. A couple problems? To sustain that lifestyle, European nations (the more successful ones) have an income tax of nearly 60%. How can we achieve a similar government when our politicians are telling us that they are decreasing taxes? It doesn't add up. Second, many European nations are in danger of having major financial problems, largely due to their inability to sustain their social welfare programs without raising the income taxes. I know in America, the concept of paying a majority of our income to a federal tax in order to have "quality" social programs would be obscene (except for a few one world hippies who traveled to Europe for a summer class and decided America should embrace Europe). Something I found interesting, was that many of the founding father's, namely John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, warned against deficit spending, as being a path to enslavement. Oddly enough, deficit spending seems to put a lot of rules and regulations on the way hard working Americans live...... If only our "leaders" would read constitutional literature (not just the ones that, when taken out of context, help promote their agenda).
