Piedmont, AL - an interesting view of the downtown area in 1941. On one side of Claude Hilburns store is Watson Drug Store and on the other side is (I think) A store belonging to E.J. Woods.

Great picture, still just a little before my time.

I can remember Piedmont downtown in the mid forties. I was visiting distant relatives on a sharecropper farm. The farmer would grind the corn into bags and go downtown and barter it for staples. What sticks out in my memory was a wide street and cars were angle parked in the center of the street. Would love to relive that life.
