I remember the tornado. I was on the way to pick up my mom from work. Our house was on 14th st. NE. We lost a lot. Our church was gone, etc. My brothers house was gone. It was devastating to Paris. I will never forget.

Wow,...It's a good thing that it was a light wire cause if it had been a heavy wire it could have really hurt you.

It was April 2nd,1982. There were 4 families in the storm cellar on Fairfax. Three families lost their homes, including us. We re-built after living a few months in a travel trailer with 3 kids. I will never forget the sound of the storm, or the horror. I will never forget how my neighbor died in it. She was caught out in the open. Her name was Helen. The city of Paris had damage all the way from west to east, 2 to 3 blocks wide.We lost either 9 or 10 people in Paris. It was nearly Easter. I remember my 3 children getting lots of Easter baskets from churches, etc...I remember the Red Cross had food wagons.I remember how our 3 year old 's Easter dress survived the storm hanging on the curtain rod in her bedroom. The house was a total disaster and totaled, the curtain was in shreds, but the dress was perfect...It was still like new...She wore it to church on Easter Sunday.

It leveled my home. I lived near the water tower.
