This was and still is a great place to play and relax. It has stood the test of time with its charm.

Again, what nice memories. Played many concerts there with the New Ken Firemans Band under the direction of Frank Oliver (Ken Hi principal and in my opinion one the the finest gentleman I ever knew) and with the Arnold Firemans Band under the baton of Joe Farinelli, another great guy. Also the Ken Hi Tennis team played all their matches there on 4 black asphalt unlit courts.

They gave it the right name! I will never forget the many picnics and corn roasts, the fishing in the creek and lagoon, the hikes up to Eagle Rock and the ice skating on the lagoon. When I brought my wife and children back from California for a visit, my wife, Paula sang there with Art Desimonde's band. It is a Memorial Park.

Wayne - what beautiful words! I remember the concerts and the park so well. They are some of the best Sunday afternoon memories I will ever have. Frank G. Oliver was the best dad anyone could have ever asked for in life. He would have been 102 yesterday, May 16, 2011 if he had lived that long. I was so appreciative for the time I had him here with us....

My Dad passed a way in 1967 - My wife and two children stopped for a few years in New Ken before going on to New York. 66-68. What years are you talking about when Frank Oliver was conducting the Arnold fireman's band?
