This school was across the street from the New Kensington Auto Parts store on Fourth Ave. It became a trade school after the Jr. High was moved to the High School on Ridge Ave.

So long ago.Remember 'buddies'such as "zombie",Frank Whalen,Chuckie Artman,Tom Oates,PaulJack etc could go on and on but would take forever but one clear 'flash back' relates to Miss Forky?? She was a teacher from Greensburg who's younger brother played football for Greensburg Jr.Hi.Before playing them our team would tease her about breaking his leg. Would you believe it happened purely by accident. Needless to say there were some tough times in her class the rest of the year. Telling today's chidern the walks to and from school, including lunch time, from the area around Pine Manor,Woodberry and Freeport Rd.s was daily their response is 'No Buses'?? They have gone 'soft'and missing great exercise and friendships.Take care.

During my years (1937-1943) in Ken Hi, and Third Ward I was living with my Grandmother on Parkview Dr. As a Jr. Patrol Boy, my corner was at Walnut and and Ridge Avenue, so I usually made it to school on time, but one year my corner was Pine Manor and Freeport Road. I never made it to school on time. I was always excused because I was a JPB. I always walked to school - I guess that is why I have such handsome legs. Well, they were until a few years ago, when all of sudden they started looking a little ragged and old.

My Grandmothers house was at the bottom of Parkview Dr. Used to walk down through the woods then through the valley to Memorial Park. During school days I crossed over the ravine to Manor (Pine Manor) and stop at Sonny Young's house and then we walked up Manor to Freeport Road and then to school. On the way we picked up Jimmy Valentine who also lived on Manor Road. Never thought about the walk, it was apart of our lives. I still walk a mile or two every day.
