There are a many of us in Fayette County that would like to know what your plans are with the Newkirk Mansion. It has sat vacant and taking a beating over the years as Iím sure you know. I have read where you are a contributing factor there in Brown County for helping to restore historical buildings rather than tear them down. That is great! I am hoping you want to do the same for our County and your property. I am willing to help in any way possible, just please let us citizens of Fayette County know what you are planning to do with our history, and for some of us a house we've dreamed about for years!

Dr.Alward,
Many of us that live in this area have loved this house for many years. It's so beautiful, but It makes my heart weigh very heavy when I see the condition it is in. Vandals busting out the windows and taking away the homes natural beauty. I am a friend of "helping hand" in the first post and we both would do anything we could to help you.We always drive by to make sure nothing funny is going on at what we call "Our Dream Home". And believe me there is a lot of stuff happening down there with that mansion. This is a beautiful gem of our town and we don't want it to fall into disrepair. The disrepair process has started with many broken windows leaving parts of the insides to be exposed to the elements. So VERY VERY SAD. Let us help you anyway we can Sir. And please if anyone reading this Knows Dr. Tim Alward please relay the message to him that we love his historical home, it's the crown jewel of this town and we want this home "our dream home" get restored to it's natural beauty. Thank you and have a good day.- Ann O.

Dear HelpingHand,
I just saw your comments today. Thanks for them & for your concern, interest & offer to help save/restore this wondrous
place. I have someone staying in the house full-time & so far
this has been working out well. Lots of times this house has been entered without my OK or knowledge since I bought it in
12/08. Rarely has anyone done damage to the house, but early on
some significant & discouraging & expensive damage was done.
I'm trying to restore it. Perhaps we should meet & talk
about this?
Respectfully, Tim

Dear "Ann in Connersville",
Please not my reply to your friend "HelpingHand" & consider
it as if addressed equally to you.

there are several georgeous mansions like the newkirk mansion scattered about in indiana. i wonder if the same craftsmen traveled around various geopraphic locations building these mansions that look so similar. what a beautiful sight when one is driving and sees such a masterpiece. the thompson mansion in edinburgh indiana sits upon a hill and the coupolo was indeed used to watch the river and the goings on at the mill. such masterpieces deserve to be restored. hats off to the dr for trying to restore the newkirk.
