This is a photo of the Wilton Hotel taken in the late 50s or early 60s. It was quite a delight welcoming the arrival of the new year in the hotel's Sky Room, with its magnificent view of the harbor and surrounding environs. One can see the wonderful Long Beach Municipal Auditorium peeking around the easterly side of the structure. In the background can be seen the Rainbow Lagoon, with its surrounding Rainbow Pier drive. One could rent a motorboat and treat one's date to a romantic moonlit "voyage" around the lagoon.

Airline ticket agencies occupying the ground floor can be seen. One could purchase his ticket for our travel to midwest or eastern destinations. Then, one would be driven to the Los Angeles or Burbank airports in the comfort of one of the limousines that would line up in the hotel's circular drive.

Note the "Nixon for President" sign that announced the "Nixon for President" headquarters to the right on the ground floor.

Thank you for sharing, Ronald. The Sky Room is one of the few places I would dine in Long Beach and I would recommend this place to tourists.

I am more than sure the views are magnificent.:)
