I posted a picture of the "flaring" that is part of the Marcellus Shale Drilling fracking process being done at 1 of the 5 wells currently under construction. These wells are part of a total 10 - 12 deep and shallow wells constructed or being constructed since 2008 within a 1 mile area of Derry...and less than 5 miles from downtown Latrobe. Please see my posts under the thread..."sky flashing" from yesterday 4/17/2011 for the story of how this is impacting our region and specifically how it affects area residents. PLEASE...appeal to our local representatives to get regulations in place to protect our water and our air quality. I am not a "tree hugger", but I am the mother of children and a homeowner who sincerely believes that this process does not belong 800 ft from my front door.(Note...they can be as close as 200 ft according to regulations!)

Post some more photos. Keep up the good PR. A "grass roots" effort is what is needed. I applaud your interest and concern.

I will try to post some dusk and night time pictures. Please understand that I am not trying in to instill fear...just trying to make people aware of what is going on. I recorded my mileage today during my trip into town to fax letters to local officials. All this is going on less than 3.5 miles from True Value location in Latrobe. Tonight I got the news that a home on Banocy Road lost the use of their well completely and now the residents were evacuated due to the fact that when found at concentrated levels methane can have explosive results. Area residents need to be aware...I know from experience that while these companies do come when you call...they also try to find other reasons for your problems. My heart goes out to these homeowners.

OK Latrobe, I have to say something. People in Latrobe have a lot of food banks to help them. So, all the churches, which participate in food banks, is great and everything, but, uh...

-----Maybe some of the churches, especially the newer non-conventional congregations, can help these families?
