I remember when the former Sheriff, Oakey Montgomery would raid some of the moonshiners that were more or less legends in Garrard County, a moonshine still was in the Sheriffs office on display for years, don't know where it is now.
These chartacters were in an out of prison seemingly each year, and were guest of the taxpayers thru the winter months, but every spring, back at their skills.
I won't mention their names, but they were well know in both Garrard and Lincoln County.
My cousin that died due to the gunpowder explosion made several arrests and confiscations of the same moonshiners , seems like yearly.
Cartersville, Buckeye, and Paintlick were popular places for them, and Crab Orchard in Lincoln County. I had a cousin that was the wife of the Crab Orchard "Cheif", back in the 60s, that raided and kept the spoils.

I guess I was ohh..5~6 years old, he and Mary Lillian were our neighbors, Joe is about 16 months or so older than me.
Oakie was a good man, we missed them when they moved out towards Flatwoods, but we still saw them often when we went out there to my uncles farm, just around the corner from them.

I sat on a store porch in Buckeye up until I graduated high school with a moonshiner that was also my friend..and he shared his life with me.
Yes, I do have a great memory of those early days...I remember hearing Oakie, Shannon, and Rollie..tell their stories many , many times, I remember all those characters they raided, I remember the "spoils" that they took from these characters, I remember one hiding his products in a cistern, and Shannon and Rollie going in after it.
Some of us have great memory. Some of us only spent their life whining and complaining......do you know anyone like that?

Remember they are watching.....better not get back to threatening.

Stop pouting because your life has not been very fullfilling.....mine has been a good one. Jealousy shows. Your the poster child of being a ...Jealous Whiner.
