They BOTH are true American's, you dumbass. Just because someone served in the military does NOT make them a better American, person, or patriot. You can find pictures in anyone's past of things that today would make us look silly. Look through your own scrapbook and see if there aren't photos that make you look good and ones that make you look bad.

Instead of just looking at a picture, try looking at the FACTS. Get your hand off your heart and your eyes off the flag long enough to think for yourself.

No they are not both equally American. And Yes, if you served in the military you are a better American. If you don't believe me, then go to Canada and find some of the people who didn't want to fight for their country and ask them if they are a good American?
Canada had to change their immigration laws to prevent so called good Americans from going to their country to get out of serving America. So, for the men and women who do serve in the military, they are better Americans. Those who don't think so should walk a mile in their shoes, and you would understand why they look at the flag the way they do and why they keep their hand over their heart as long as they can.

So an American vet is a better American than someone who chose not to enlist? What about someone who couldn't enlist because of a disability? What about someone who died before they were old enough to enlist? Are they no-good Americans too?

You, my friend, are prejudiced and a fascist for your thinking - about as far from being an American as you can be. Could it be that his being black bothers you too? I'll bet it does. I'll even bet a) you don't think blacks should be in the military and b) blacks aren't as good Americans as whites.

You give the REAL armed services a bad name and are an embarassment.

You have no idea! A vet who put his life on the line to serve and protect his country IS a better American. Just like a person who donates blood to save a life is a better person than someone who won't even take the time to go see if they can. Now, the person who tries to give blood and can't they may or may not be a better person. It depends on what they do after that.

I never made any mention of race in my statement. Race is not an issue with me, if you knew me you would know why.

You made mention of someone who "chose not to enlist", well if you had ever served in the military, there is a thing that you learn about called honor. Many people enlist in the military for different reasons, many enlist for the GI bill to pay for college. In basic training they learn about HONOR, and what it really means to serve your country. If you have never been there you won't understand, it isn't taught like you teach math or science, it is taught through pain, sweat, tears, fears and sometimes blood and injuries.

If you haven't learned about HONOR, then you won't understand where i am coming from. To you the slogans of the services are just words, to a soldier those same words inspire them to do the things that most Amercians can't do. It is love for their country and love for their families and the Honor that they feel for their country that makes them go and leave their families behind in order to do the job they were trained to do. If that job means that they must go and shoot people, they do it, if that job means go and hunt for land mines, they do it, if that job means they go live in the mountains for weeks or months at a time watching a road, they go.

While most Americans are at home watching reality TV, these Americans are protecting this country from those who want to take away our freedom. They are living true reality. You can sit there behind your computer and talk sh!t about them all you want, but they are truly better Americans than you will even be, becasuse without them doing what they do, you would not have the freedom to sit there and talk that sh!t about them or me or anyone else.

If you enjoy your freedom and like talking you talk, then you owe a debt of gratitude to all the vets who have served and are serving today.

So go on and say what you want about me, but vets are better Americans, the fact that you have the freedom of your opinion proves that.

Where do you get the idea that words mean more than actions anyway? Just because you say you like America, and you say you are patriotic, doesn't mean you are. It is your actions that speak the loudest. If you actually do raise the flag on holdidays, or even everyday, then you are being more patriotic than the person who doesn't.

If you serve your community through volunteering at the Red Cross, the Salvation Army, or any other orginization, then you are a better citizen than the guy who sits on his duff and does nothing for his fellow man.

If you get involved in politics and help support your candidate by actively campaigning for that candidate rather than just going to the polls on election day and pulling the lever, then you are a better supporter of that candidate.

As for your candidate, Mr. Obama, his actions speak volumes to me, his choosing to not wear a flag pin is an action, his choosing to not serve in the military is an action, his not going to IRAQ and seeing for himself what the troops are going thru is an action. His voting record of "Pesent" is an action, his use of the Kuran for his swearing in is an action, his not choosing Hilary Clinton for his running mate is an action.

Mr. McCain choosing to serve his country is an action, his refusing to leave his fellow POW's is an action, his wearing of the flag pin is an action, his going to Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar to meet with troops and see what they are actually fighting for are actions. Choosing a woman as his running mate is an action.(The first time any party has put a woman on the ticket for the general election BTW.)
Choosing to reach across party lines and cooperate with Democrats on many issues is an action.

If you go to the other side of the world and leave everything you have ever known behind, live in a place where everyone speaks in a foreign language. Where talking on your cellphone isn't the biggest worry when driving, every rock, piece of trash or bush could possibly be a bomb set there to blow you to pieces. Or living on a ship in the middle of the ocean. Knowing that you can't go home when you get tired, you can't quit your job if you don't like it. You have to stay and do your job. You have to do your job because if you don't do your job people will die, Americans will die, your family could die. Because if you choose to go AWOL and quit your job, someone else, maybe one of your buddies you serve with will have to take your place, and he or she may have to take the bullet that was meant for you, they may have be the ones who loose an arm or a leg, and you will have to live with that for the rest of your life. These ACTIONS, not just words are what makes them better Amercians. Some just do their job and never make much of a sacrifice for their country, but some make the ultimate sacrifice for their country, they give to their country the one thing that means more than anything, their LIFE.

So you go ahead and give your country all the WORDS you would like, but don't even try and put yourself on the same level as those TRUE Americans who give to their country ACTIONS.
