I wasn't alive then, but I am sure the fair back then was a WHOLE LOT DIFFERENT THAN IT IS TODAY. So much so that I would have preferred it the way it used to be. I have been the last several years, and between the foul mouthed rap music they play, and the kids talking and acting like they crawled out of a ghetto sewer, I would have preferred to just stay home.

Thanks for the comment. YES as is everything now. It used to be up behind the cemetary. I always remember going every yr. Quite the thrill then. Think I was a teenager. Sometimes when I think of how things USED to be I wish I could go back just one day. The simplicity of life. No responsibilities except of course chores. The day school would let out for summer. And how hard we played in the extremely hot weather all day and til dark. People weren't worried about the kids as much as now. Just get home before dark.
The great holiday meals. And everyday meals. They knew and were friendly with neighbors. Would help anyone. A small town where EVERYONE CARED ABOUT EVERYONE. So sad it is NOT that way anymore. I only see greed for money, and corruption and how much the town has gone down.
With a little care and help from the community and the CITY maybe it could be nice again. And then again maybe not.

It will never be the same as in the good ole days. Yes, I remember when the fairgrounds were near Fairview Cemetary. Actually I think the newest addition of the Cemetary may be where part of the fair was held.

Thanks for the old photos and your post.

God bless. Merry and Happy!
