Took my daughter to Dow Park to practice tennis yesterday evening. She also played in the outdoor racquetball court. Why does the city allow the preschool to take up an entire racquetball court with preschool toys and lock it so no one can play in it? A lady and her son had to wait for my daughter and friend to stop in order to then play with her kid. Our tax dollars go towards those 2 courts and we can't utilize ONE of them.
This photo tells the tale.
Dow Park is used by so many people with so many variety of things to do, it is our biggest asset imo. Yet council is always approving to improve the golf course with things such as, the greens, t boxes, new golf carts, repair the fountain, fix the porch, etc. When will you approve some new playground equipment or trim up the trees or simpler yet... keep the grass mowed in our parks? I find it odd that I can get in trouble if my grass is over a certain height, but yet the city is letting the grass/weeds get above knee height at our parks. Yep yesterday the weeds/grass was as high as my knees along the bayou and in other areas of Dow Park.
Besides our home having what our family needed, we moved to Deer Park because of the schools. To learn we had a park less than half a mile away was icing on the cake. I knew my family would be spending considerable amount of time there and we have and still do. Our jewel is Dow Park, lets keep it that way. If you want families to stay in Deer Park or move to Deer Park you have got to keep our parks looking their best. If you must spend HOTax, spend OUR HOTax on Dow Park instead of growing Heritage Park. I wish each council person would walk the trail at Dow Park and then give the outdoor racquetball courts a tour and the Pavilion and the Gazebo and tour the swim house bathrooms and the pool area, the skate park and the "pond" which is suppose to be the sand volleyball area. The "pond" is 20 yards X 20 yards as of yesterday. Bring in some sand! It had been several days since we had any rain and yet yesterday the water was still ankle deep in the sand volleyball court "pond". The things that need to happen are cheap (with the exception of new play equipment) and we already have the man power to the majority of it. If we can't afford new play equipment now then so be it, please maintain what we have and don't restrict the use of facilities. I will not approve another tax to make this happen.

Andrea could get the golf course to break even because the course get enough play but is not manage correctly too much waste.

Who is "we"? If u r in position to hire me please call me. I would be glad to entertain that proposal. Otherwise if u want to play the hypothetical question game I know how to play. It's my turn. Are u ready for your question?
