Why not? They like to rewrite history; why not redefine liberalism.

That's how the dictionaries define "liberal." Do you want to redefine the word?

No, that isn't how "the dictionaries" define liberal.

I, sir, am a classical liberal. This "definition" is of the modern "social liberal" or progressive.

"Being generous" has nothing to do with liberalism. It does have plenty to do with the m.o. of modern progressive democrats. They're plenty generous, with other people's money, usually confiscated by the IRS. Generous is a synonym of the adjective liberal (e.g. a teacher liberal with her praise.)

"one free from prejudice or narrow thinking." Seriously? This bumper sticker disproves that. You won't find either in any definition of any kind of liberalism.

Now the antonyms (the only part that might be 25% correct.) Conservative is the antonym of liberal.

Liberal as is defined in Merriam Webster's only seems to recognize the modern liberal, throwing out the forebearers of modern conservatives, Classical Liberals. So the antonym of a modern liberal is the conservative. The other three words stingy, mean, and bigoted, are not antonyms of liberalism, nor are they synonyms of conservative.

That's the definition in Webster's dictionary. You can't accuse someone of redefining a word by listing verbatim the dictionary definition.
