Residents of Colonial Beach,
This is a series of pictures taken of an ongoing sewage problem we are having in Riverside Meadows. We are asking for your help to get this problem fixed. Our children play in these streets. You drive your golf carts through this stuff. People are getting sick because of this leak. Even though you may not live in our section of Town and may feel that we are outsiders (Come Here’s) to your Town, who deserve to be treated as outsiders, outsiders who bought “cheap” houses and don’t deserve paved roads, it is inhumane to live in this squalor. We have raw sewage leaking in our streets. WE HAVE RAW SEWAGE LEAKING IN OUR STREETS! Before you post your negative comments here, my name is John Gray of 213 Dogwood Ave. Please respond in kind with the same courtesy. I invite each and every one of you to enjoy a lunch and lemonade with me in my driveway across from this leak. I am here every day, come enjoy the dust of human waste and foul stench of our sewer problems.

Please RSVP so I can make sure I have enough food and drink readily available

John-I am surprised the health department has not intervened by now. This is a definite quality of life issue.

Mr Gray, I'm sure you have contacted Public Works and the Town Manager to no avail. It would be my recommendation that you contact the Westmoreland Health Department and the State Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), All spills are to be reported to them by the Town and what clean up action was taken.
While no pictures were posted I would recommend you provide them to DEQ along with dates and times of call to the town for assistance.
Also just to add I don't live in Riverside Meadows but that doesn't mean I don't think you are a part of Colonial Beach as a whole.
I sure that the monitoring done by Council Members and Town Employees of this site you will now get attention to the problem. Unfortunately this route had to be taken to get service.

Thanks Mr. Gray,

Ironically, before I saw your post I sent pictures of this sewage leak to the reporters and editors of the local newspapers. I am sure that they would like to come and inspect this as well. Kind of irritating how a public works vehicle drives by the area you are referring to and not even get out to look at the problem. Tomorrow, I will make more calls to other government entities including the county, the DEQ and the CDC if needed.

Does your tap water smell of sewage as well? Every time I turn on my tap water lately it smells of sewage. Not to mention that every time I go outside, it smells horrible.

Why does the town not care that this is happening? What do they plan on doing to correct the problem? How quick will this be addressed?

We need quick resolution…we need action!
