Phil Ramos is busy mailing out taxpayer funded pieces lauding himself and filling internet sites with his alleged accomplishments but the reality is that he proposes no legislation, he merely cosponsors what he is told to when he is told to by forces from outside this district.

He claims to have voted for the tax cap. He didn't. He voted for the "circuit breaker" which will never be enacted because it is too convoluted to administer it will never pass the Senate; the circuit breaker is a piece of legislation dreamed up by NYC's Sheldon Silver and NYSUT to make it look like Assembly Dems support a tax cap. City Dems don't want a property tax cap, nor does the teachers' union.

But Ramos doesn't care about property taxes because he doesn't pay them. He isn't a homeowner. He lives in an apartment in Central Islip that, until recently, was in someone else's name.

Ramos has spent most of his career in Albany palling around with legislators from New York City. He gladly signs onto their proposals most of which bring money not to Suffolk but to the city. He doesn't do anything for the people of the 6th Assembly District. Rumor has it that he doesn't even attend meetings of the Suffolk County Assemblypeople leaving him completely out of touch with what is going on here on Long Island.

Just last year, Ramos teamed up with his friends from the city and withheld $300,000,000 of Suffolk's sales tax revenue in an attempt to embarrass Steve Levy and force Suffolk to build a hiring hall for illegal immigrants at Pilgrim Hospital. Why should Suffolk have the only state-mandated hiring hall? And what good is a hiring hall on the grounds of Pilgrim Hospital?

Ramos is never in the district anyway. He is constantly flying off to Central America, often on dollars from his campaign warchest. What is he doing there when he is supposed to be representing Brentwood, Central Islip, and Bay Shore?

Many district resident know who he is only because he keeps sending out glossy mailings with photos of himself. Nobody ever sees him. He doesn't return phone calls. He just shows up for photo ops then jets off to Central America for more fun in the sun.

When the primary comes in September, I'm voting for Waldo Cabrera. He's got good ideas, he's doing positive work for our community, and he returns phone calls.
