Carlsbad, NM - Can someone please tell me what this was first used as? It appears on the east side of the highway, leaving Loving and headed to Pecos, TX. Sadly, it is riddled more and more with grafitti.

Its been a while since I've been home but thirty five years ago it was a gas station past Orla Texas (the middle of nowhere) nearer to Williamson spring (wrong name) When I was a kid the proprietor had a box on the front porch that a stuffed "critter" jumped out of and scared the bejesus out of the unsuspecting. Also he had diamondback hides on planks, maybe stretched a bit but still by far the biggest rattlers I ever laid eyes on. Amazing country there.
