I can recall back in the late 40s as a high school student from Luzerne Twp. our gang would eat our lunch at a place called the wharf. The water level at this time was a great deal lower because the Locks #5 were still in use These were the days when there wasn't such thing as a school lunch, you brought it in a bag or you didn't eat.Back to my story, at times Dunlap Creek which came into the river at the wharf would be small enough that we could jump over it to the other side and walk under the town of Brownsville. Yes we would be under the stores located downtown. We would then surface out at the location of the Library and proceed up High Street to the Senior High for our afternoon classes. Were those really the good old days?
