Are they going to restore the courthouse. I am wanting to buy downtown and it would help merchants attract more people. Anyone know anything about it?

Yes Rose....The county is working to restore the courthouse. Of course..with the current economy it may take a couple of more years before the citizens actually vote on the restoration. The county did receive a grant for plans and specifications which are in the works as we speak. Yes, please consider buying downtown. I have faith that we will restore our grand lady.

There isn't any work being done to restore the courthouse! The thing never has gone to a vote, and it has about a snowball's chance of ever passing. Don't believe me, look at the vote on the college a couple of weeks ago.

People in Fannin County are already taxed out!

Please forgive my Stupidity, I pay $7400 a year in property tax, I own a modest 3 bedroom house in not the best of areas & own a crapy little business here in town, if everyone's paying this type of tax for there home & or business I don't understand the money problems, I am hit up weekly for donations for improvements that I would think some of these Taxs should cover, & usually by folks that have never supported my Business & probably never will. Please Educate me is this a normal thing or just a Fannin County thing?
