Great Post rlcrews !!!! Pat attention Belmont, this highway is a 6 lane interstate (don't be fooled when you read old reports of a 4 lane, eco friendly "Garden Parkway"), with a neutral ground and expansive shoulders, and ends at the airport. A Major intention of this interstate is as a trucking route for the expansion of the Airport as a mixed (road, rail, air) industrial HUB(which is under construction now)...

Yes, the plans are much more expansive than anyone here can imagine.

That whole area will get paved over once the road is placed. Commercial and Residential. Hotels, Fast foods, gas stations and Crime.

It will look just like Pineville, complete with congestion. Toll ROads breed COngestion.

Thanks for the map Crews and I agree with you Ellen. This is really a road to nowhere and would in no way benefit Belmont would it? How many of us need to pay a toll to go to Hickory or the airport. If your going to the airport the quickest, freeest way is HWY 74, of course.

This road is the brain child of the folks who own the large tracks property (HOYLE & PITTINGER).

They stand to make a finanical winfall when the land is sold to hotels and gas stations. Our elected officials: hard a work on finding ways to fill their pockets with retirement money. For SHAME!!

Is the Parkway not scheduled to link to 485? If so, that is logical to build. What we really need is light rail to charlotte from Gaston. We have thousand commuting to Charlotte ( downtown, hospital area, Arrowood and Ballantyne). We MUST have roads and/or other transportation. Offer solutions instead of obstacles.
