Although the sign doesn't say it (or maybe it's on the other side) the Gov. was the one that got free text books for the public schools. If you folks could have seen Sampson Hill in the 60's, it was beautiful. A long grassy lawn that had a concrete drive that went from 25E to the guest house that was above the Gov.'s swiss chalet style house. There was a turn around with a two car garage where i learned to ride a bicycle. There was a rock wall that ran across the front of the lawn. In the summers the fireflies were all over. It was a magical place back then. Now it's just a memory.

Nope.. the Markers says the same thing on both sides... And yes I remember Sampson Hill very well back in the day... Use to climb the hill beside it before the new road was built.. had a rock fort right on the edge ... Kissed my first girl on that hill ..Her Name was Kat never knew her last name ... and remember the big hole that was the Old water reservoir on top of the hill next to it... And yes that was a Beautiful Place especially in the late spring when the flowers and trees were in bloom....

Was a long time ago but I remember calling her Kat.. She lives up the road behind that tire company on the left of the Sampson home... It could have been Kit I know she had a brother but I thought she had 2 of them... but heck I was 11 years old at the time... so not real sure... Use to climb the face and rock climb with Tommy Roe and met her while climbing the rocks
