1 but seriously I hope this public outcry/uproar/backlash inspires BET to seriously re-evaluate their current programing choices. They need to incorporate more Donnie Simpson/Sherry Carter era progaming selections. They need to appeal to a more diverse/sophisticated demographic.(an audience w/ more disposable income) Because right now they are nothing more than a joke & disgrace. |

2 This is the worst since the Wayans brothers hosted. As far as the MJ tribute; I do understand that they were working with limited time. They still could have produced a better tribute. They were rushing to be the first ones to do a MJ tribute and wanted to cash in on the ratings! The Lows: 1. Ciara is a dancer and singer. Why in the devil was she sitting on a stool singing Heal The World? 2. Chris Brown would have done a great job doing Billie Jean or Bad; why wasn't he there? 3. New Edition, I love them but the butchered ABC 4. Lil Wayne's lyrics were awful and I do not understand why his daughter and friends were up there. This song was inappropriate. 5. Don Cornelious went well over his time. 6. Did anyone try to contact Usher, Justin Timberlake or Chris Brown. 7. Keri Hilson did a poor job. 8. T-Pain~"Big Azz Chain" 9. Jamie discussing Michael's skin, nose, etc. It's funny when he is alive but not dead. Also, his father was in the auidience. 10. Why did they do tributes throughout the show oppose to one tribute at the beginning, middle,or end? 11. Jamie sitting down Beyonce quickly as if the climax of the show was about to begin only to find out it was JayZ performing DOA. 12. Beyonce was gorgeous and did a wonderful job on that rendition, but didn't you want more? Highlights:(I am not even a big fan of Neyo but...) 1. Neyo's rendition of "The Lady of My Life" 2. Neyo's & Jamie Foxx's rendition of "I'll Be There" 3. Neyo with BBD 4. Neyo, Jamie, and Fab performing "She's Got Her Own" 5. Mary Mary & Queen Latifah 6. O'Jays Performance 7. The whold tribute to the O'Jays was great 8. Maxwell~awesome |

1 If you don't like BET don't watch, it's that simple. If you choose to watch you must be prepared for what you see. Lil Wayne grew up in a urban neighborhood in New Orleans and you have to accept that the values in places like that are different. I know plenty of people who allow their children to watch or listen to Lil Wayne type material. Do I approve? No. So you know what I do? I make sure that my kids aren't exposed to that. I realize that their values are different from mine. To them it's cute to see the kids singing and dancing to adult oriented music. I can't say they love their children less because they do. Furthermore, BET revamped its entire broadcast to honor and pay tribute to Michael Jackson and while it was a bit disorganized they did a fantastic job of putting it together in such little time. Lil Wayne is a self made multi millionaire who worked his way off the streets of New Orleans, if he wants to bring his daughter on stage while he raps explicit lyrics who are we to judge him? This is the same sentiment that killed MJ. People need to learn to respect the privacy of other people's lives. I wonder how many of those who are judging would actually be willing to show people what they do with their families on an average day. I bet it pales in comparison to what Lil Wayne does for his. |

1 Lil Wayne is absolute trash. Everyone has the right to an opinion. Personally I stopped watching BET years ago. BET stands for black entertainment television and if a black person feels they are being misrepresented then they have the right to say so and protest. As far as I'm concerned the network needs to change it's name. Not all the things on BET are bad and promote negative stereotypes but as a whole the network is a disgrace. |

1 ********** The post is about the BET awards not the BET network. Since you brought it up; BET has hit a slump. I've never watched CMT. Therefore, I can't say anything negative about it. I have seen BET; I have plenty of choice words. Also, BET is not the only network getting criticism. As far as people protesting outside Debra Lee's home; that is a bit drastic. I would choose a much more important reason to protest. As far as Lil' Wayne; he made a bad choice. That's it! We all have made bad decisions and we will face criticism for it. No one said he was a bad father. It was inappropriate to have his daughters/friends on stage when singing "I wish I could have all the girls in the world" and then goes on to curse throughout the song. You could see the confused faces in the audience. I do listen to songs they may have sexually suggestive lyrics or a bad word here and there; I DON'T LISTEN TO IT WHEN MY SON IS WITH ME. No one is judging anyone. Some people thought the show was awesome and some thought it was awful. I feel as though it was awful. That's my opinion. No one is exempt from facing criticism. Trust, I barely watch BET but I wanted to see the MJ tribute. Yes they revamped their show to pay tribute to Michael Jackson. On the business side of it; they also wanted to beat others to the punch and cash in on the ratings. Last but not least, the time the Fugees opened up and Monique was the host~they received rave reviews. Everytime Monique was the host; the show went well. I am not saying Jamie did a bad job; he happen to host the show on the wrong year. The point I am trying to make is; you have to take the bitter with the sweet. The same way they received rave reviews for the good; they must accept the bad reviews and grow from it. |

Jay-z told BET that if Chris Brown performed, he and Beyonce wouldn't show up. Talk about a major bitch move.
