EUR Film Review: 'Hancock' starring Will Smith

Equally-annoying is the awkward, improbable and terribly twisted plotline which can only be comprehended with the benefit of 20-20 hindsight once all the pieces of the puzzle have finally been revealed. I'm not even sure how I would explain the resolution to an inquiring child incapable of such contorted mental calisthenics.

that's a shame they didn't like the film. i haven't seen it yet. i was thinking it would be nice to finally see a lead black superhero (for once).

Yeah scientology is a ridiculous scam and I won't support anyone. I can't even watch his old movies now, same as with Tom Cruise. If he renounces his cult I will reconsider.

I forgot Storm, Catwoman and Morpheus. Let's not forget that Nick Fury has been cast as a Black man in the marvel movies (Samuel L. Jackson), even though the character has been White for the last....40 years?

Yeah, but they finally got it right with Hancock. He's a drunk that is hated by Mainstream America, tears up stuff, blames others and takes no responsibility for his actions, and makes moves on his only friends wife. Pretty much sums up the Black Community. A total mess.
I can hardly wait to find out how slavery caused all these problems in the storyline. LOL

It is a damn shame that our reputation has succeeded us so much that the first Black superhero we get is a drunken idiot. This is what the world thinks of Black men and yet most brothers don't even give a damn about getting the lost ones to change.

i saw the movie. typical hollywood. it was entertaining and had the usual black-white stereotypes.

black man goes to jail eventho he's a superhero.

black man lazy and angry eventho he has tremendous power.

white woman is black man kyptonite.

black man-white man buddy.

white man saves black man.

black man has no mate since he can't have white woman.

But this is America lmbao.....

O.K. y'all. I wanted to stay out of this discussion but after watching this movie 3 times now and loving it I have to speak up. Not to dis any comments already made but only to contribute another perspective, can we consider the fact that on their level of being, color is not even a consideration (they are angels, demi-gods, etc.) Remember why he got his brains beat out in the first place-he held her hand (in a world where color IS a consideration). So here he is, confused, black, unfocused, ungrounded (like most black men) and with super-powers. He had no obligation to save/protect/rescue/help anybody. But his "higher calling" kept pushing him to help the pitiful defenseless humans. He was conflicted. Ok he busted up stuff. He was drunk. If a drunk pushes you out of the way of a bus and you fall down in the dirt and ruin a new pair of pants you'd probably cuss him out for ruining your pants rather than thank him that you aren't dead too. I could go on with my sermon but I've vented my frustrations and can move on. Now go watch it again and open your mind and look at it through his eyes. Then thank Will Smith (who I do not particularly like as a person but love as an actor) for reminding black people that we have a genuine concern for these poor misguided humans and thats why we continue to save them at our own expense. Now chew on that for a minute!

ok but why not cast a white man? also And the movie was watched by people on OUR level of being. I know movies are fantasies, but they are also propaganda. Watch the frustration. Understanding white supremacy will help rid some of it..

and chew on this.. since we've absorbed the xtian values of alturism,(turn the other cheek, it's better to give than receive, etc) we are so busy saving others that we don't save ourselves. Look in the prisons, in the ghettos (formerly community), look on topix.

shyt, we don't even consider seriously that WE need savin...integration is a terrible drug.(rick james on cocaine)
